Flood Repair Measures to Rural Infrastructure Project (FRRI)

The project consists of the repair/ rehabilitation and/or improvement of flood damaged roads and schools in the project region. All project measures are to be designed to withstand the effects of climate change, in particular the increased risk of flooding in the lower Mekong delta and the Tonle Sap basin.

The specific measures will encompass among others:

   -   Repair / improvement of the road embankment and pavement;

   -   Repair / improvement of drainage and other related engineering structures

   -   Raising of road embankment level,

   -   Erosion protection measures

   -   Modifications to road embankment level, alignment, cross section, surfacing material and water          

       regulating/obstruction properties of the road dam, to improve the resilience of the road infrastructure

       to the effects of climate change (in particular increased flood events);

            -   Surface upgrading (SBST or DBST)

            -   Reconstruction of flood damaged schools and associated infrastructure with

       better, flood resilient designs and access for disabled students.
